Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.18%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Electric Power , Financials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.18%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA: EMBR3 ), which rose 4.24% or 0.94 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA: BRML3 ) added 4.08% or 0.41 points to end at 10.47 and Braskem SA (SA: BRKM5 ) was up 4.08% or 1.86 points to 47.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included TAESA UNT N2 (SA: TAEE11 ), which lost 6.91% or 1.41 points to trade at 19.00 in late trade. Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) declined 5.36% or 1.20 points to end at 21.18 and B2W Cia Digital (SA: BTOW3 ) shed 4.93% or 1.47 points to 28.33.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 265 to 159 and 34 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.51% to 28.29.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.97% or 26.00 to $1292.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.27% or 0.19 to hit $71.15 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.47% or 0.55 to trade at $117.03 .

USD/BRL was up 1.06% to 3.6608, while EUR/BRL rose 0.35% to 4.3355.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 93.10.
