Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.12%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Electric Power , Consumption and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.12%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ), which rose 4.20% or 1.61 points to trade at 39.91 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ) added 3.64% or 0.62 points to end at 17.65 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) was up 3.35% or 0.46 points to 14.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA: GOAU4 ), which lost 3.15% or 0.17 points to trade at 5.22 in late trade. EcoRodovias SA (SA: ECOR3 ) declined 2.17% or 0.23 points to end at 10.39 and JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) shed 2.08% or 0.17 points to 8.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 207 to 204 and 34 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.75% to 26.12.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.39% or 5.06 to $1296.66 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.14% or 1.04 to hit $47.62 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.24% or 1.63 to trade at $130.07 .

USD/BRL was up 0.70% to 3.1683, while EUR/BRL rose 1.13% to 3.7422.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 93.03.
