Brazil shares lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 0.08%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Public Utilities , Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.08%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA: ECOR3 ), which rose 2.71% or 0.28 points to trade at 10.62 at the close. JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) added 2.48% or 0.22 points to end at 9.10 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA: MRFG3 ) was up 1.84% or 0.13 points to 7.20 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Kroton Educacional SA (SA: KROT3 ), which lost 2.23% or 0.40 points to trade at 17.50 in late trade. Equatorial Energia SA (SA: EQTL3 ) declined 2.09% or 1.31 points to end at 61.35 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA: CMIG4 ) shed 1.98% or 0.17 points to 8.42.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 233 to 169 and 41 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.31% to 25.66.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.39% or 18.00 to $1315.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.47% or 1.18 to hit $46.69 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.11% or 0.15 to trade at $131.47 .

USD/BRL was up 0.14% to 3.1644, while EUR/BRL rose 0.58% to 3.7903.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 92.18.
