Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Bovespa Electrical Energy, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.02%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Dexco SA (BVMF:DXCO3), which rose 3.68% or 0.25 points to trade at 7.05 at the close. Companhia de Saneamento Basico do Estado de Sao Paulo SABESP (BVMF:SBSP3) added 3.04% or 2.49 points to end at 84.51 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (BVMF:UGPA3) was up 2.92% or 0.66 points to 23.23 in late trade.

Biggest losers included IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3), which fell 4.71% or 1.48 points to trade at 29.92 in late trade. Energy of Minas Gerais Co Preferred (BVMF:CMIG4) declined 3.57% or 0.39 points to end at 10.54 and CTEEP Cia de Transmissao de Energia (BVMF:TRPL4) down 3.35% or 0.85 points to 24.49.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 490 to 402 and 57 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.

Shares in IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.71% or 1.48 to 29.92.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.65% to 25.58.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.24% or 55.00 to $2,401.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.15% or 2.56 to hit $78.74 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.05% or 2.52 to trade at $238.38 .

USD/BRL was up 0.94% to 5.60, while EUR/BRL rose 0.14% to 6.10.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 104.08.
