Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 2.40%
Credit: © Reuters. – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials , Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 2.40%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ), which rose 7.84% or 0.29 points to trade at 3.99 at the close. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA: ESTC3 ) added 6.10% or 0.96 points to end at 16.70 and BM&FBovespa SA (SA: BVMF3 ) was up 5.62% or 1.04 points to 19.55 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Fibria Celulose SA (SA: FIBR3 ), which lost 4.86% or 1.40 points to trade at 27.43 in late trade. Braskem SA (SA: BRKM5 ) declined 2.81% or 0.90 points to end at 31.09 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ) shed 1.42% or 0.18 points to 12.46.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 222 to 143 and 31 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.14% to 34.54.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.19% or 2.50 to $1286.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.85% or 0.45 to hit $52.73 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.64% or 2.32 to trade at $143.57 .

USD/BRL was down 1.27% to 3.1048, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.00% to 3.3370.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 100.20.
