Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 2.11%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 2.11%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ), which rose 7.30% or 2.11 points to trade at 31.01 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA: RUMO3 ) added 6.80% or 0.42 points to end at 6.60 and Vale SA (SA: VALE5 ) was up 6.34% or 1.64 points to 27.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA: CYRE3 ), which lost 1.22% or 0.11 points to trade at 8.92 in late trade. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA: MRVE3 ) declined 0.70% or 0.08 points to end at 11.37 and Embraer SA (SA: EMBR3 ) shed 0.59% or 0.10 points to 16.80.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 226 to 165 and 28 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.48% to 37.86.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.07% or 12.60 to $1191.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.89% or 0.87 to hit $46.93 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.73% or 1.13 to trade at $156.93 .

USD/BRL was down 1.10% to 3.3843, while EUR/BRL fell 1.08% to 3.5855.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 101.37.
