Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.45%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Financials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.45%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Vale SA (SA: VALE3 ), which rose 7.51% or 1.94 points to trade at 27.77 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA: BRAP4 ) added 6.80% or 0.97 points to end at 15.24 and Vale SA (SA: VALE5 ) was up 6.15% or 1.44 points to 24.87 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Embraer SA (SA: EMBR3 ), which lost 3.77% or 0.64 points to trade at 16.35 in late trade. Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA: CYRE3 ) declined 2.87% or 0.26 points to end at 8.80 and Multiplan SA (SA: MULT3 ) shed 2.21% or 1.29 points to 57.07.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 195 to 143 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.66% to 35.31.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.14% or 1.65 to $1211.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.37% or 0.18 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.87% or 1.41 to trade at $161.57 .

USD/BRL was up 0.10% to 3.3559, while EUR/BRL rose 0.07% to 3.5656.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 101.09.
