Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.19% – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials , Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.19%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ), which rose 2.73% or 0.38 points to trade at 14.32 at the close. BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA: BRML3 ) added 2.68% or 0.34 points to end at 13.03 and Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA: SBSP3 ) was up 2.55% or 0.88 points to 35.38 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA: UGPA3 ), which lost 2.76% or 2.09 points to trade at 73.61 in late trade. Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA: CYRE3 ) declined 1.99% or 0.23 points to end at 11.31 and BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ) shed 1.72% or 0.66 points to 37.80.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 210 to 181 and 38 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.96% to 26.58.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.61% or 7.50 to $1241.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.70% or 0.32 to hit $46.34 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.96% or 1.28 to trade at $134.70 .

USD/BRL was down 0.72% to 3.1594, while EUR/BRL fell 0.08% to 3.6498.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 94.44.
