Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 3.72%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate , Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 3.72% to hit a new 6-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Telefonica Brasil SA (SA: VIVT4 ), which rose 14.36% or 5.41 points to trade at 43.09 at the close. B2W Cia Digital (SA: BTOW3 ) added 9.39% or 3.03 points to end at 35.31 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA: UGPA3 ) was up 8.68% or 3.62 points to 45.32 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB3 ), which lost 3.53% or 1.34 points to trade at 36.58 in late trade. Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA: SBSP3 ) declined 2.08% or 0.59 points to end at 27.71 and Braskem SA (SA: BRKM5 ) shed 1.47% or 0.73 points to 48.82.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 320 to 144 and 26 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.47% to 41.67.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.58% or 7.10 to $1225.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.27% or 0.85 to hit $66.19 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.58% or 1.80 to trade at $112.45 .

USD/BRL was down 0.71% to 3.6950, while EUR/BRL fell 0.96% to 4.1922.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 96.76.
