Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.55%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials , Basic Materials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Lojas Americanas SA (SA: LAME4 ), which rose 6.44% or 1.19 points to trade at 19.68 at the close. Cielo SA (SA: CIEL3 ) added 6.05% or 0.52 points to end at 9.12 and Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) was up 4.88% or 0.65 points to 13.97 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Klabin Unt (SA: KLBN11 ), which lost 1.45% or 0.25 points to trade at 17.05 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA: PETR3 ) declined 1.25% or 0.35 points to end at 27.67 and EcoRodovias SA (SA: ECOR3 ) shed 1.00% or 0.09 points to 8.91.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 267 to 152 and 34 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.54% to 36.46 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.63% or 7.70 to $1227.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.29% or 1.18 to hit $50.38 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.44% or 0.50 to trade at $113.80 .
USD/BRL was down 0.61% to 3.8512, while EUR/BRL rose 0.06% to 4.3794.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 96.722.
