Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were B3 SA Brasil Bolsa Balcao (BVMF:B3SA3), which rose 10.48% or 1.10 points to trade at 11.60 at the close. CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF:CMIN3) added 9.09% or 0.48 points to end at 5.76 and Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) was up 7.91% or 0.67 points to 9.14 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3), which fell 6.40% or 0.11 points to trade at 1.61 in late trade. Lojas Renner SA (BVMF:LREN3) declined 4.13% or 0.50 points to end at 11.60 and Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3) down 4.00% or 0.01 points to 0.24.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 472 to 450 and 55 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
Shares in Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3) fell to all time lows; losing 4.00% or 0.01 to 0.24.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.33% to 30.22.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.85% or 54.45 to $3,001.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.36% or 0.92 to hit $66.76 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.27% or 1.05 to trade at $385.70 .
USD/BRL was unchanged 0.00% to 5.80, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.00% to 6.29.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 103.76.
