Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Bovespa Industrial Sector, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3), which rose 9.23% or 3.52 points to trade at 41.65 at the close. Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF:PETZ3) added 5.93% or 0.22 points to end at 3.93 and Dexco SA (BVMF:DXCO3) was up 5.27% or 0.39 points to 7.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ultrapar Participacoes SA (BVMF:UGPA3), which fell 5.57% or 1.33 points to trade at 22.56 in late trade. Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3) declined 2.13% or 0.04 points to end at 1.84 and Raia Drogasil SA (BVMF:RADL3) down 2.03% or 0.60 points to 28.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 542 to 378 and 53 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.03% to 31.69.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.35% or 32.95 to $2,465.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.20% or 0.90 to hit $76.13 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.29% or 0.72 to trade at $245.58 .
USD/BRL was down 1.24% to 5.56, while EUR/BRL fell 0.66% to 6.08.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 103.03.
