Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.55%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate , Financials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.55%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were B3 SA Brasil Bolsa Balcao (SA: B3SA3 ), which rose 5.06% or 1.01 points to trade at 20.98 at the close. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA: CMIG4 ) added 4.10% or 0.27 points to end at 6.86 and Equatorial Energia SA (SA: EQTL3 ) was up 4.18% or 2.38 points to 59.36 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA: GOLL4 ), which lost 4.33% or 0.48 points to trade at 10.61 in late trade. Companhia de Saneamento do Parana Sanepar Unit (SA: SAPR11 ) declined 3.55% or 1.75 points to end at 47.57 and BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ) shed 3.50% or 0.68 points to 18.77.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 248 to 203 and 28 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.03% to 34.58.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.24% or 3.10 to $1267.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.71% or 0.49 to hit $68.09 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.12% or 0.14 to trade at $117.17 .

USD/BRL was down 0.32% to 3.7743, while EUR/BRL rose 0.13% to 4.4183.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 93.95.
