Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Bovespa Electrical Energy and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.44% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (BVMF:ITUB4), which rose 2.41% or 0.88 points to trade at 37.46 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (BVMF:PETR3) added 2.34% or 0.99 points to end at 43.32 and Energy of Minas Gerais Co Preferred (BVMF:CMIG4) was up 2.30% or 0.26 points to 11.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3), which fell 4.53% or 1.33 points to trade at 28.01 in late trade. Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) declined 3.42% or 0.42 points to end at 11.87 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF:USIM5) down 3.41% or 0.22 points to 6.24.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 471 to 454 and 58 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
Shares in Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (BVMF:ITUB4) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.41% or 0.88 to 37.46. Shares in Petroleo Brasileiro SA (BVMF:PETR3) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.34% or 0.99 to 43.32.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.44% to 25.55.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.47% or 11.95 to $2,540.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.24% or 0.94 to hit $74.59 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.67% or 1.70 to trade at $256.95 .
USD/BRL was up 0.93% to 5.56, while EUR/BRL rose 0.34% to 6.17.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 100.99.
