Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.43%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Industrials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.43%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ), which rose 5.42% or 0.43 points to trade at 8.37 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA: CSNA3 ) added 4.77% or 0.43 points to end at 9.44 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA: GOAU4 ) was up 4.05% or 0.30 points to 7.71 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA: ESTC3 ), which lost 3.25% or 0.76 points to trade at 22.60 in late trade. Banco do Brasil SA (SA: BBAS3 ) declined 2.53% or 0.79 points to end at 30.47 and Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) shed 2.26% or 0.40 points to 17.30.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 269 to 191 and 42 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.24% to 37.90.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.08% or 12.80 to $1197.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.28% or 0.18 to hit $65.39 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 3.70% or 3.87 to trade at $100.83 .

USD/BRL was up 1.26% to 3.9585, while EUR/BRL rose 1.60% to 4.5443.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 95.68.
