Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.42%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials , Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.42%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ), which rose 3.45% or 0.78 points to trade at 23.37 at the close. JBS SA (SA: JBSS3 ) added 3.23% or 0.25 points to end at 8.00 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA: NATU3 ) was up 3.16% or 0.99 points to 32.28 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA: SUZB5 ), which lost 3.61% or 0.74 points to trade at 19.78 in late trade. Embraer SA (SA: EMBR3 ) declined 2.01% or 0.33 points to end at 16.07 and Qualicorp SA (SA: QUAL3 ) shed 1.48% or 0.52 points to 34.51.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 196 to 186 and 26 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.14% to 29.52.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.41 to $1278.71 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.57% or 0.30 to hit $52.17 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.61% or 0.75 to trade at $124.03 .

USD/BRL was down 0.01% to 3.2331, while EUR/BRL rose 0.01% to 3.8198.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 93.53.
