Brazil shares higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.36%

Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Utilities , Financials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.36% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA: BRFS3 ), which rose 6.21% or 1.34 points to trade at 22.93 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA: ELET3 ) added 5.10% or 1.48 points to end at 30.48 and B2W Cia Digital (SA: BTOW3 ) was up 4.63% or 1.86 points to 42.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Via Varejo SA (SA: VVAR3 ), which lost 4.72% or 0.20 points to trade at 4.04 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA: USIM5 ) declined 3.55% or 0.36 points to end at 9.77 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA: SANB11 ) shed 3.40% or 1.63 points to 46.36.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 233 to 219 and 29 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.72% to 33.57.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.34% or 4.40 to $1285.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.41% or 1.17 to hit $49.69 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.48% or 2.55 to trade at $105.30 .
USD/BRL was down 0.58% to 3.7136, while EUR/BRL fell 0.89% to 4.2473.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 95.512.
