Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Bovespa Industrial Sector and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.04% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5), which rose 6.05% or 0.62 points to trade at 10.87 at the close. Prio SA (BVMF:PRIO3) added 5.15% or 1.89 points to end at 38.56 and Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3) was up 4.65% or 0.39 points to 8.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LWSA SA (BVMF:LWSA3), which fell 5.38% or 0.19 points to trade at 3.34 in late trade. IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) declined 4.51% or 2.15 points to end at 45.52 and Marcopolo SA (BVMF:POMO4) down 3.52% or 0.24 points to 6.58.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 567 to 406 and 53 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.05% to 29.33.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 3.10% or 103.69 to $3,240.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.72% or 1.05 to hit $62.07 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 3.64% or 14.10 to trade at $373.65 .
USD/BRL was up 0.46% to 5.68, while EUR/BRL fell 0.95% to 6.30.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.42% at 101.60.
