Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.24% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 2.29% or 0.57 points to trade at 25.65 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 2.06% or 0.265 points to end at 13.150 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 0.16% or 0.20 points to 124.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 9.41% or 3.83 points to trade at 36.81 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 2.41% or 1.53 points to end at 61.87 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 2.32% or 0.49 points to 20.82.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 72 to 68 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.74% or 9.05 to $1207.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.57% or 0.26 to hit $45.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.19 to trade at $46.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.0592, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8589.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.35% at 101.35.
