Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which rose 0.88% or 1.10 points to trade at 126.60 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.64% or 0.09 points to end at 13.32 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.61% or 0.34 points to 56.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which lost 4.33% or 4.85 points to trade at 107.25 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 4.15% or 2.440 points to end at 56.420 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 3.87% or 2.50 points to 62.03.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 79 to 62 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.14% or 1.75 to $1271.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.01% or 0.50 to hit $49.22 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.45 to trade at $50.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.0943, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.9001.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 98.66.
