Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the BEL Basic Materials Net Return, BEL Consumer Goods Net Return and BEL Telecommunications Net Return sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC), which rose 2.75% or 1.96 points to trade at 73.20 at the close. Ageas (EBR:AGES) added 1.53% or 0.72 points to end at 47.80 and Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR:AZE) was up 0.61% or 0.12 points to 19.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which fell 4.31% or 0.46 points to trade at 10.21 in late trade. Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) declined 2.81% or 2.17 points to end at 74.98 and D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB) down 2.30% or 3.90 points to 165.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 55 to 37 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
Shares in KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.75% or 1.96 to 73.20.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.10% or 29.79 to $2,679.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.67% or 1.17 to hit $71.19 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.38% or 1.01 to trade at $74.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 106.70.
