Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.62% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 2.01% or 1.36 points to trade at 69.11 at the close. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 1.76% or 1.85 points to end at 106.85 and DIeteren SA (BR:IETB) was up 1.62% or 0.580 points to 36.330 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 0.99% or 0.495 points to trade at 49.525 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.28% or 0.10 points to end at 35.40 and Elia (BR:ELI) gained 0.34% or 0.150 points to 44.230.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 111 to 31 and 21 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.25% or 15.70 to $1243.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.74% or 1.44 to hit $37.06 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.43% or 0.98 to trade at $39.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1094, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.7751.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 96.62.
