Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the BEL Health Care Net Return, BEL Telecommunications Net Return and BEL Basic Materials Net Return sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Sofina (EBR:SOF), which rose 1.68% or 3.60 points to trade at 218.40 at the close. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) added 1.13% or 1.80 points to end at 161.55 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) was up 0.84% or 0.26 points to 31.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 1.40% or 0.32 points to trade at 22.46 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 0.62% or 0.16 points to end at 25.50 and Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) down 0.51% or 2.40 points to 471.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 51 to 34 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
Shares in UCB SA (EBR:UCB) rose to all time highs; rising 1.13% or 1.80 to 161.55.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.15% or 29.40 to $2,518.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.79% or 1.29 to hit $73.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.79% or 1.36 to trade at $77.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 101.34.
