Investing.com -- The domestic market made a negative opening on Thursday, mirroring weakness across Asian markets and an overnight Wall Street crash, following US Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s hawkish comments that the terminal rate is likely to be higher than previously expected.
Equity benchmark indices declined up to 0.55% in early trade, with Nifty50 and Sensex were last seen trading flat with a positive bias. IT, realty and pharmaceutical stocks exerted pressure on the market, while banking and financial stocks extended support. Nifty Bank gained 0.6%.
RBI is conducting an off-cycle monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting today with main focus on inflation and reasons for missing the inflation target.
