NSE has again become the talk of the town as its plans have again surfaced to extend its trading window for F&O traders. As per a report, NSE has already filed papers with the SEBI and is now seeking approval from the regulator.

The exchange plans to extend the trading hours in a phased manner. Rather than extending the ongoing trading window, it is reportedly going with a separate trading session on the same day, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  Many reports are also indicating that this trading window might extend to 11:55 PM, just like MCX.

Initially, the trading is expected to start in the index derivatives (futures and options) and later the exchange might add stock derivatives in this 2nd trading window.

However, one thing to note is that the settlement of the second session will likely be done on the next day, probably due to the working hours constraints of other market intermediaries.

The major benefit of the second trading window, especially during the US session will help traders manage their positions more efficiently w.r.t. the global markets. This is the same reason why MCX opens for around 15 hours a day, to keep traders in sync with the global markets as commodities are traded internationally. This reduces the chances of huge gap ups/downs in the next session.

Not a good move . It will increase engagement hours of traders and mental stress . I stopped commodity only because of long trading hours and leading to stress . Big sharks wont be affected but small traders will increase their stress manifold .
