By Malvika Gurung -- The flagship entity of Adani (NS: APSE ) Group, Adani Enterprises (NS: ADEL ) Ltd (AEL) could be added to the headline index Nifty 50 in the semi-annual review, while the cement manufacturing company Shree Cement (NS: SHCM ) could be excluded from the benchmark.

According to analysts at Edelweiss, Nifty’s semi-annual rebalancing review in September 2022, could see AEL listed under the headline index, as the Adani Group firm meets all the requirements to make it under the benchmark at the moment.

Also, Shree Cement and the two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Motocorp (NS: HROM ) are the lowest-ranking constituents of Nifty50, and if AEL is added to the benchmark, Shree Cement shall be excluded.

The changes in the index shall be announced in the second half of August, and the rebalancing date would be on Sept 30. The cut-off date to calculate any changes in the index constituents is July 29, stated reports.

The head of Edelweiss Alternative & Quantitative Research states that if the stocks Adani Green Energy (NS: ADNA ), Adani Transmission (NS: ADAI ) and Avenue Supermarts, get included in the derivatives segment before the shuffling date arrives, they would be added to the Nifty50 index, as their average free-float market capitalisation is significantly higher than most of the Nifty 50 constituents, as per an ET report.

Further, the Nifty Next 50 index is also expected to see some rejigs, as per Edelweiss.

The recently-listed national insurer LIC (NS: LIFI ), Tata Power (NS: TTPW ), IRCTC (NS: INIR ), Mphasis (NS: MBFL ), Adani Wilmar (NS: ADAW ), Shree Cement and Motherson Sumi Systems (NS: MOSS ), are likely to be added to the index, while stocks including SAIL (NS: SAIL ), Punjab National Bank (NS: PNBK ), Jubilant Foodworks (NS: JUBI ), Lupin (NS: LUPN ), Zydus Lifesciences (NS: ZYDU ), and Adani Enterprises could be removed from the index.
