Nifty to Open in Green on Global Cues; SAT Approves PNB Housing Finance’s EGM

By Aditya Raghunath
Investing.com -- It looks likely that Nifty 50 and the BSE Sensex 30 will open in the green following global cues. US stock indices had their strongest trading session in three months and the sentiment should spill over to Indian markets, particularly after the solid comeback from the red yesterday. Nifty 50 Futures in Singapore are trading up 0.71% indicating a green opening for markets.
Securities Appellate Tribunal has given a go-ahead to PNB (NS: PNBK ) Housing Finance Ltd (NS: PNBH )’s EGM but has instructed it to not reveal the results of the meeting. This should come as good news to PNB Housing Finance shareholders who saw their shares get locked in a lower circuit yesterday.
Public sector banks will continue to see action today. A news report said that Central Bank of India Ltd (NS: CBI ) and Indian Overseas Bank (NS: IOBK ) have been shortlisted for divestment by the government. Both stocks hit a 20% upper circuit yesterday. Indian Bank (NS: INBA ) has launched its Rs 4,000 crore QIP (qualified institutional placement) yesterday.
Asian markets are all trading up with Nikkei 225 , KOSPI 50 and the Shanghai Composite up 2.9%, 0.68% and 0.63% respectively.
US futures are also up with Dow Jones 30 Futures , S&P 500 Futures and Nasdaq 100 Futures up 0.16%, 0.13% and 0.05% respectively at the time of this report.
