Investing.com - National Steel reported on Tuesday second quarter earnings that missed analysts' forecasts and revenue that topped expectations.

National Steel announced earnings per share of R$0.02 on revenue of R$1.2B. Analysts polled by Investing.com anticipated EPS of R$0.08 on revenue of R$1.11B.

National Steel shares are down 26.67% from the beginning of the year and are trading at R$2.53 , down-from-52-week-high.They are under-performing the EUR/USD which is down 0% year to date.

National Steel follows other major Basic Materials sector earnings this month

National Steel's report follows an earnings beat by Air Products on Thursday, July 23, 2020, who reported EPS of R$2.01 on revenue of R$2.07B, compared to forecasts EPS of R$1.98 on revenue of R$2.06B.

Sherwin-Williams had beat expectations on Tuesday with second quarter EPS of R$7.1 on revenue of R$4.6B, compared to forecast for EPS of R$5.67 on revenue of R$4.53B.
