Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.69%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance , Banking and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.69%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO: 5541 ), which rose 7.60% or 285.00 points to trade at 4,035.00 at the close. Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (TYO: 5232 ) added 5.08% or 165.00 points to end at 3,415.00 and Fujikura Ltd. (TYO: 5803 ) was up 5.01% or 27.00 points to 566.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO: 4506 ), which lost 2.33% or 26.00 points to trade at 1,088.00 in late trade. Softbank Group Corp. (TYO: 9984 ) declined 1.88% or 106.00 points to end at 5,547.00 and Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (TYO: 9983 ) shed 1.72% or 1,100.00 points to 62,900.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2197 to 1302 and 254 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 9.18% to 22.72.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.90% or 0.97 to $106.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.78% or 0.88 to hit $112.28 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.23% or 4.50 to trade at $1,981.90 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.84% to 128.04, while EUR/JPY rose 0.94% to 138.15.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 100.82.
