Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.50%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.50%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T: 6976 ), which rose 6.84% or 440.0 points to trade at 6870.0 at the close. Kubota Corp. (T: 6326 ) added 6.20% or 145.0 points to end at 2484.5 and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (T: 8031 ) was up 4.86% or 125.0 points to 2698.5 in late trade.

Biggest losers included CyberAgent Inc (T: 4751 ), which lost 4.09% or 92.0 points to trade at 2160.0 in late trade. Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T: 5541 ) declined 3.97% or 92.0 points to end at 2226.0 and MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (T: 8725 ) shed 3.22% or 118.0 points to 3547.0.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1934 to 1604 and 220 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.66 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.97% or 0.76 to $79.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.97% or 0.79 to hit $82.03 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.45 to trade at $1859.95 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 114.32, while EUR/JPY fell 0.05% to 129.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 95.608.
