Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.28%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.28%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DeNA Co Ltd (T: 2432 ), which rose 6.82% or 85.0 points to trade at 1331.0 at the close. Omron Cor (T: 6645 ) added 4.15% or 260.0 points to end at 6530.0 and Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T: 4151 ) was up 4.01% or 99.0 points to 2568.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Marubeni Corp. (T: 8002 ), which lost 7.73% or 39.0 points to trade at 465.7 in late trade. ANA Holdings Inc (T: 9202 ) declined 6.74% or 153.0 points to end at 2117.0 and JTEKT Corp. (T: 6473 ) shed 5.57% or 41.0 points to 695.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2156 to 1477 and 157 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 40.15.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.79% or 0.19 to $23.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.24% or 0.37 to hit $29.35 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 3.05 to trade at $1691.55 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 106.31, while EUR/JPY rose 0.28% to 114.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 100.093.
