Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.24%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp , Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.24%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T: 5706 ), which rose 8.75% or 270.0 points to trade at 3355.0 at the close. Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (T: 4507 ) added 6.56% or 396.0 points to end at 6434.0 and DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T: 5714 ) was up 5.43% or 235.0 points to 4565.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (T: 5713 ), which lost 6.61% or 297.0 points to trade at 4195.0 in late trade. Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (T: 1925 ) declined 3.89% or 132.0 points to end at 3259.0 and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (T: 8801 ) shed 3.16% or 82.0 points to 2511.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2217 to 1338 and 206 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 19.55.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.96% or 1.30 to $67.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.52% or 1.05 to hit $70.09 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.48% or 8.30 to trade at $1734.80 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 110.46, while EUR/JPY rose 0.10% to 129.57.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 93.010.
