Japan shares higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.15%

Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Shipbuilding , Transport and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.15%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Subaru Corp (T: 7270 ), which rose 4.51% or 79.50 points to trade at 1,843.00 at the close. Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T: 5202 ) added 4.35% or 18.00 points to end at 432.00 and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (T: 7201 ) was up 4.22% or 19.60 points to 484.40 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T: 5541 ), which lost 17.39% or 700.00 points to trade at 3,325.00 in late trade. Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (T: 5713 ) declined 9.98% or 599.00 points to end at 5,401.00 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T: 5707 ) shed 9.72% or 277.00 points to 2,574.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2600 to 983 and 187 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.33% to 28.98.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 5.32% or 5.48 to $97.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 5.49% or 5.87 to hit $101.03 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.32% or 25.90 to trade at $1,934.90 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.13% to 118.03, while EUR/JPY rose 0.39% to 129.78.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 98.75.
