Investing.com -- The domestic market made a positive opening to the new week on Monday, after witnessing a bloodbath in the previous session and ending the holiday-curtailed week on a flat note last week.

The May 8-started week will focus on the earnings of over 300 companies on Dalal Street, along with inflation data and the outcome of state election.

The CPI data of India and the US for April 2023 is set to release this week, as the Fed’s rate hike at the May policy meeting is already done now.

At the time of writing, headline Nifty50 surged 0.76% to 18,207.7 levels and Sensex jumped 0.84% or 512 points on Monday.

In a note sent to Investing.com, Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services said, “The Q4FY23 earnings estimate of the Nifty is at 11% YoY; therefore, the next set of results is likely to be better and will support the investor sentiment. In the week ahead, the release of US and Indian CPI inflation data will be keenly watched by the market to get a direction.”
