Investing.com -- A report by Indeed India Hiring Tracker says that India Inc hired 11% more people during the June 2021 quarter compared to the March 2021 quarter. Valuevox conducted the survey on Indeed’s behalf. They surveyed 1,500 employees and 1,200 businesses across 9 cities in June 2021.

Top sectors that hired were IT (61%), finance (48%) and BPOs and IT-enabled service companies (47%). The sectors at the bottom were fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and manufacturing, engineering and infrastructure both at 34%, and retail (28%).

However, hiring was not uniform across sectors, and was dominated by large companies (59% of employers) while mid-sized companies faltered as only 38% of them hired.

Positions that were most in demand were sales coordinator (83% of employers said they hired for this role), relationship manager (77%), digital marketer (69%), UI/UX (61%), designer, and quality analyst (53%) were the most in demand.

Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales, Indeed India said, "With hiring activity seeing a month-on-month increase, it was interesting to see businesses pivot their hiring priorities from operation roles to sales roles."

There was a mismatch when it came to getting back to work. 42% of employers preferred hybrid work to 35% who wanted to continue remote work. However, 46% of employees wanted remote work compared to 29% who wanted a hybrid approach.
