HCLTech has announced its plan to establish a new AI and Cloud Native Lab in Singapore, marking the company’s fifth lab globally, set to open in 2025. Supported by Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB), this facility will bolster AI innovation in the region, joining HCLTech's existing labs in the US, UK, Germany, and India.
The Singapore-based lab will serve as a critical resource for regional enterprises aiming to accelerate their AI initiatives. Leveraging HCLTech’s integrated suite of AI solutions, including AI Force and AI Foundry, the lab will help businesses enhance operational efficiencies, develop new business capabilities, and boost competitiveness through AI-driven blueprints and scalable strategies. This lab will also engage in partnerships with Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic to foster AI talent among young students and mid-career professionals, further fueling the region’s skilled workforce in the digital sector.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCLTech, announced the initiative during an event hosted with the Ministry of Digital Development and Information of Singapore and EDB, alongside senior representatives from local polytechnics. At the event, HCLTech’s CTO and Head of Ecosystems, Vijay Guntur, highlighted that the lab will serve as a “conducive starting point for enterprises” to explore AI and Generative AI solutions, positioning Singapore as a key hub for AI innovation in Southeast Asia.
The launch of HCLTech's lab aligns with Singapore’s broader vision to lead in AI innovation, as outlined in its National AI Strategy 2.0, launched in 2023. This strategy reflects the government's commitment to building a trusted and responsible AI ecosystem, which has supported the adoption of AI across sectors like finance, manufacturing, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Executive Director of Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), Philbert Gomez, remarked that HCLTech’s lab aligns with DISG’s mission, providing companies with tools to scale AI solutions and unlock new business value.
For over four decades, HCLTech has been a significant player in Singapore’s technology landscape, supporting government initiatives and notable clients across industries. As the hub for HCLTech’s Southeast Asia operations, Singapore has seen the company pioneer projects such as Asia’s first Wi-Fi-based patient tracking system and various other government-backed technological advancements.
