Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.51%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare , Clean Technology and IT sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.51%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Thomson Reuters Corp (TSX: TRI ), which rose 10.63% or 10.76 points to trade at 112.02 at the close. Equitable Group Inc. (TSX: EQB ) added 6.56% or 8.14 points to end at 132.21 and Enerplus Corporation (TSX: ERF ) was up 3.70% or 0.23 points to 6.44 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Lightspeed POS Inc (TSX: LSPD ), which lost 7.76% or 7.95 points to trade at 94.49 in late trade. Trillium Therapeutics Inc (TSX: TRIL ) declined 7.71% or 1.25 points to end at 14.96 and Aphria Inc (TSX: APHA ) shed 7.10% or 1.730 points to 22.640.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 715 to 336 and 103 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.28% or 5.05 to $1803.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $61.68 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.17 to trade at $64.53 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.15% to 0.7937, while CAD/EUR rose 0.16% to 0.6530.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 90.093.
