Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.37%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare , IT and REITs sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.37%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX: FVI ), which rose 5.11% or 0.46 points to trade at 9.46 at the close. Eldorado Gold Corp (TSX: ELD ) added 4.95% or 0.85 points to end at 18.03 and Seabridge Gold Inc . (TSX: SEA ) was up 4.79% or 1.20 points to 26.25 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Trillium Therapeutics Inc (TSX: TRIL ), which lost 5.29% or 1.10 points to trade at 19.70 in late trade. Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX: ACB ) declined 4.86% or 0.305 points to end at 5.965 and MEG Energy Corp (TSX: MEG ) shed 4.69% or 0.13 points to 2.64.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 571 to 456 and 135 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.53% or 10.10 to $1904.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.11% or 0.85 to hit $41.05 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.05% or 0.87 to trade at $43.32 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.05% to 0.7606, while CAD/EUR fell 0.06% to 0.6474.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 93.388.
