Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.11%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms , Healthcare and Energy sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.11%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (TSX: WDO ), which rose 8.36% or 0.73 points to trade at 9.46 at the close. Bombardier Inc (TSX: BBDb ) added 7.05% or 0.110 points to end at 1.670 and TFI International Inc (TSX: TFII ) was up 5.47% or 2.49 points to 48.05 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TSX: GOOS ), which lost 3.99% or 1.71 points to trade at 41.15 in late trade. Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX: BHC ) declined 3.86% or 1.46 points to end at 36.37 and iA Financial (TSX: IAG ) shed 3.83% or 2.86 points to 71.90.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 536 to 472 and 142 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.47% or 7.40 to $1579.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.90% or 0.46 to hit $51.63 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.38% or 0.77 to trade at $56.56 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.10% to 0.7540, while CAD/EUR rose 0.27% to 0.6958.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 98.998.
