Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 1.94%

Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy , REITs and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 1.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Air Canada (TSX: AC ), which rose 27.62% or 4.37 points to trade at 20.19 at the close. Suncor Energy Inc (TSX: SU ) added 27.27% or 4.17 points to end at 19.46 and Vermilion Energy Inc . (TSX: VET ) was up 27.35% or 0.93 points to 4.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cargojet Inc (TSX: CJT ), which lost 10.51% or 25.48 points to trade at 217.07 in late trade. Shopify Inc (TSX: SHOP ) declined 10.02% or 136.35 points to end at 1225.10 and Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd . (TSX: AEM ) shed 9.41% or 10.33 points to 99.41.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 782 to 321 and 60 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 4.53% or 88.50 to $1863.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 8.43% or 3.13 to hit $40.27 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 7.45% or 2.94 to trade at $42.39 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.50% to 0.7697, while CAD/EUR rose 1.02% to 0.6513.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.62% at 92.797.
