Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.66%

Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare , Energy and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Trillium Therapeutics Inc (TSX: TRIL ), which rose 185.79% or 14.51 points to trade at 22.32 at the close. MAG Silver Corp (TSX: MAG ) added 8.96% or 1.95 points to end at 23.71 and Capstone Mining Corp (TSX: CS ) was up 7.90% or 0.38 points to 5.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Boyd Group Income Fund (TSX: BYD ), which lost 3.09% or 7.85 points to trade at 245.93 in late trade. GENIVAR Inc . (TSX: WSP ) declined 2.07% or 3.46 points to end at 163.64 and ECN Capital Corp (TSX: ECN ) shed 1.67% or 0.17 points to 10.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 704 to 302 and 113 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.31% or 23.35 to $1807.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 5.49% or 3.41 to hit $65.55 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 5.41% or 3.50 to trade at $68.25 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 1.38% to 0.7905, while CAD/EUR rose 0.93% to 0.6730.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 92.987.
