Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.37%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Energy , Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.37%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were BlackBerry Ltd (TSX: BB ), which rose 10.65% or 1.30 points to trade at 13.51 at the close. Bombardier Inc (TSX: BBDb ) added 7.89% or 0.150 points to end at 2.050 and Capstone Mining Corp (TSX: CS ) was up 6.16% or 0.30 points to 5.17 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Centerra Gold Inc (TSX: CG ), which lost 5.44% or 0.51 points to trade at 8.78 in late trade. Equinox Gold Corp (TSX: EQX ) declined 5.10% or 0.47 points to end at 8.64 and Eldorado Gold Corp (TSX: ELD ) shed 4.57% or 0.48 points to 10.03.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 566 to 416 and 121 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.62% or 28.85 to $1749.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.23% or 0.89 to hit $73.12 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.94 to trade at $77.13 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.98% to 0.7905, while CAD/EUR rose 0.50% to 0.6730.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 93.028.
