Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.30%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Energy , IT and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.30%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Docebo Inc (TSX: DCBO ), which rose 5.60% or 4.89 points to trade at 92.25 at the close. OrganiGram Holdings Inc (TSX: OGI ) added 5.04% or 0.13 points to end at 2.71 and Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX: LSPD ) was up 4.39% or 2.97 points to 70.64 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc (TSX: ATDb ), which lost 5.19% or 2.62 points to trade at 47.90 in late trade. New Gold Inc (TSX: NGD ) declined 3.30% or 0.065 points to end at 1.905 and Enghouse Systems Ltd (TSX: ENGH ) shed 2.56% or 1.45 points to 55.30.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 491 to 479 and 138 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.44% to 12.65.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.04% or 0.65 to $1783.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.09% or 0.07 to hit $78.43 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.09 to trade at $82.22 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.00% to 0.7894, while CAD/EUR rose 0.51% to 0.7053.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 96.898.
