Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.24%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare , Clean Technology and Consumer Discretionary sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.24%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Boralex Inc (TSX: BLX ), which rose 5.26% or 1.93 points to trade at 38.61 at the close. Colliers International Group Inc Bats (TSX: CIGI ) added 5.14% or 6.61 points to end at 135.27 and OrganiGram Holdings Inc (TSX: OGI ) was up 4.55% or 0.20 points to 4.60 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Enerplus Corporation (TSX: ERF ), which lost 5.21% or 0.34 points to trade at 6.18 in late trade. Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX: LUN ) declined 5.21% or 0.680 points to end at 12.370 and Crescent Point Energy Corp . (TSX: CPG ) shed 3.69% or 0.19 points to 4.96.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 609 to 461 and 89 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.36% or 6.20 to $1727.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 4.64% or 2.84 to hit $58.34 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 4.22% or 2.72 to trade at $61.69 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.32% to 0.7924, while CAD/EUR rose 0.10% to 0.6735.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 92.890.
