Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.22% – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the REITs , Real Estate and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.22% to hit a new 6-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Trillium Therapeutics Inc (TSX: TRIL ), which rose 12.95% or 2.57 points to trade at 22.41 at the close. Ero Copper Corp (TSX: ERO ) added 5.02% or 1.03 points to end at 21.54 and Enerplus Corporation (TSX: ERF ) was up 4.71% or 0.14 points to 3.11 in late trade.

Biggest losers included CAE Inc. (TSX: CAE ), which lost 6.62% or 2.08 points to trade at 29.32 in late trade. Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (TSX: FVI ) declined 3.57% or 0.32 points to end at 8.64 and Spin Master Corp (TSX: TOY ) shed 3.53% or 1.09 points to 29.78.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 526 to 492 and 103 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 2.35 to $1885.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.27% or 0.11 to hit $41.45 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.05 to trade at $43.77 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.01% to 0.7648, while CAD/EUR fell 0.10% to 0.6444.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 92.388.
