Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.14%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare , Clean Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.14% to hit a new all time high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Hexo Corp (TSX: HEXO ), which rose 19.05% or 0.320 points to trade at 2.000 at the close. Canopy Growth Corp (TSX: WEED ) added 15.61% or 4.040 points to end at 29.920 and Cronos Group Inc (TSX: CRON ) was up 6.25% or 0.57 points to 9.69 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd . (TSX: AEM ), which lost 15.62% or 12.23 points to trade at 66.06 in late trade. MTY Food Group Inc (TSX: MTY ) declined 8.45% or 5.05 points to end at 54.68 and Eldorado Gold Corp (TSX: ELD ) shed 4.44% or 0.41 points to 8.83.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 522 to 498 and 133 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.50% or 7.95 to $1586.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.23% or 0.63 to hit $52.05 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.56% or 0.88 to trade at $57.22 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.13% to 0.7547, while CAD/EUR rose 0.19% to 0.6965.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 99.010.
