Canada shares higher at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite up 0.01%
Credit: © Reuters. – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy , Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.01%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Denison Mines Corp (TSX: DML ), which rose 8.87% or 0.18 points to trade at 2.21 at the close. OrganiGram Holdings Inc (TSX: OGI ) added 8.23% or 0.19 points to end at 2.56 and Enerplus Corporation (TSX: ERF ) was up 7.88% or 0.98 points to 13.41 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX: LSPD ), which lost 8.73% or 6.41 points to trade at 67.03 in late trade. BRP Inc (TSX: DOO ) declined 6.13% or 6.72 points to end at 102.88 and Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX: CTS ) shed 5.83% or 0.690 points to 11.140.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 629 to 383 and 97 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 9.08% to 12.61.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.97% or 17.45 to $1788.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.53% or 1.94 to hit $78.69 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.45% or 2.75 to trade at $82.45 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.02% to 0.7875, while CAD/EUR fell 0.05% to 0.7002.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 96.510.
