After trading in the green most of the afternoon, shares sank in the final hour of trading as investors digested comments from fed officials on the path for interest rates. Amid the decline, several rumors hit trading desks. Below we highlight a couple:

Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ:PENN) gained 4.6% today on rumors an activist investor has been accumulating the account via broker Goldman Sachs, which recently disclosed a sizable stake.

8x8, Inc. (NYSE:EGHT) surged from lows following an Investing.com report the company has been approached about a takeover by a strategic buyer, citing a source. Shares closed down despite the rumor.
