Nifty Unable To Sustain Above 10700 Levels

The Indian Benchmark Index Nifty 50 in the last trading session witnessed a sharp fall of more than 100 points from 10723 to close at 10604 after making a low of 10586. Nifty has been falling since last 9 consecutive days. The Index made a high of 11118 on 7th Feb and from there, it has fallen more than 500 points.

The big players in the market, FII and PRO are continuously creating short positions in the Index options, as a result of which the Index is continuously falling. In the start of current week expiry, FII and PRO in combined have (-) 107139 open positions when Nifty was trading at 10746, and as on date, the net OI in Index Options are (-)227304 and Nifty has come down to 10604 levels.

The cash market benchmark Index NIFTY Smallcap 100 has come down to a crucial support level of 5670 which is its Oct 18 low. If the Index breaks this level and sustains below, then it can come down to 5409 which is the next monthly support of the Small Cap Index.

None of the sectors are performing in the current market scenario. Only sugar stocks last day showed some upside movement. Dwarkesh sugar was up by 5%, Dhampur Sugar by 8.34%, Dalmia Sugar by 5.10%, Avadh Sugar by 9.20%. Chemicals, FMCG, Textiles were amongst the Major sectors that underperformed yesterday whereas Carbon, Paper, Electrical Equipment were amongst the Minor sectors in the red. Emami (NS: EMAM ) was up by 13.28% yesterday in the Midcap segment.

US Data
The US 10 Year T-Note is trading at 122.26. The Bond has broken its important low of 120.03 on 2nd Oct 2018. The US Dollar Index is trading at 96.363.
